Criteria for HOF

Hall of Fame Criteria (achievement)

  • Membership in the GDBA (DBA) for 15 or more years at be at least (45) years of age.
  • Must have at least one honor score (300, 299, 298, 800).
  • Must have at least one GDBA City, Ohio State or National Title (Includes USBC formerly known as the ABC) or any PBA win)
  • Must qualify in 4 of the following 6 categories:

1.    Top 5 placing in a city event or top 25 placing in State or top 200 in Nationals.
2.    Additional USBC certified sanctioned tournament win.
3.    Top 5 placing in an additional USBC certified sanctioned tournament.
4.    Member of the GDBA (DBA) all city team.
5.    High yearly house average or high average in city or a yearly average of over 225.
6.    Had association yearly Individual high series or had association yearly high team game or series.

Hall of Fame Selection

  • A maximum of up to three of the nominated are to be elected in each category (Bowling Achievement and Meritorious Service) which have received a minimum of forty (40) percent of the ballots cast may be selected annually. Any nominee achieving the aforementioned criteria may be posthumously inducted. If no one receives the necessary percentage the top percentage vote getter will be inducted. If there is a tie in the percentage, both will be inducted. If a nominee is on the ballot by himself he must receive 51 percent of the ballots cast to be elected. Board members can vote for two members in each category.
  • The Hall of Fame Veterans committee may elect two additional members annually. These nominees must have applications and criteria completed and submitted to the Veterans Committee. Veterans must have notable bowling achievement, have been a member of the GDBA (DBA) for 15 years or less if approved by the committee and have reached age 65 or have been out of competitive bowling for five years.
  • At least 20 days prior to the April meeting of the Board of Directors, the Association Manager shall send each member of the Hall of Fame those names approved by the committee to be placed on the ballot along with a ballot so to allow each Hall of Fame member a minimum of 10 days to make their selection by mail if necessary.
  • Suitable awards shall be made to those elected at an appropriate ceremony. In case of posthumous awards, presentation will be made to the nearest of kin.
